BLACK SABBATH's '13' SELLS MORE THAN 150K COPIES IN U.S., TOPS BILLBOARD CHART

Blabbermouth reports "13", the first BLACK SABBATH record in 35 years to feature singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler all playing together, sold 155,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on June 11 via Vertigo/Universal Republic. This marks BLACK SABBATH's return to Vertigo, their original label, and the group's first studio album together since 1978's "Never Say Die!"

"The news is absolutely amazing — we couldn't have imagined this would happen," says Tony Iommi. "We have the greatest fans."

"There have been so many amazing highlights in our long career," says Ozzy Osbourne. "To finally have our first #1 album in the U.S. is another incredible milestone for BLACK SABBATH. Thank you to all of our fans for their support and loyalty."

Geezer Butler says, "I'm absolutely stunned. Thank you all worldwide for being the best, and most patient, fans ever."

According to Billboard.com, "13" is BLACK SABBATH's second top 10, following 1971's "Master Of Reality", which reached No. 8.

SABBATH's previous best chart showing of the SoundScan era came when the live set "Reunion" bowed with 62,000 back in 1998 at No. 11.

Details of "13"'s deluxe edition surfaced on April 19, with the band revealing that the eight-song effort is accompanied by three bonus tracks called "Methademic", "Peace Of Mind" and "Pariah".

Several versions of "13" are available for order, including a standard CD, a double CD that includes a second disc of exclusive bonus audio, a heavyweight vinyl album in a gatefold sleeve and the aforementioned "Super Deluxe Box Set", which contains the double CD, the vinyl album, an exclusive DVD documentary on the band's reunion, 13 photographic prints and hand-written lyrics.

The drum tracks on the album were laid down by RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE sticksman Brad Wilk following original drummer Bill Ward's decision to bow out of the reunion.

Osbourne went on the BBC in England to discuss the band's new single, "God Is Dead?" and the inspiration behind the track. Ozzy explained, "I was in somebody's office and there was a magazine on a table and it just said, 'God Is Dead', and I suddenly thought about 9/11 and all these terrorist things and religion and how many people have died in the name of religion. When you think about the tragedy that's happened throughout time, it just came in my head. You'd think by now that their God would have stopped people dying in the name of, so I just starting thinking that people must be thinking, 'Where is God? God is dead' and it just hit me."

Ozzy added that the question mark at the end of the title is his way of showing that he's not sure about the answer himself, saying, "At the end of the thing, there's still a bit of hope because there I sing that I don't believe that God is dead. It's just a question of when you see so many dreadful people killing each other with bombs, and blowing the tube trains up and the World Trade Center."

Ozzy told an Australian radio station that "13" is "mind-blowing," adding, "It's better than my wildest dreams; it's so good."

SABBATH kicked off its world tour in support of "13" on April 20 in Auckland.

OZZY AND SHARON OSBOURNE OFFICIALLY BACK TOGETHER

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have apparently moved back in together after Sharon spent some time living outside the family home, according to Loudwire. The Black Sabbath singer and his wife/manager were spotted walking down the red carpet for the Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday night (June 16th), where they embraced, kissed for the cameras and seemed genuinely happy. The couple were also together at the record release party for Sabbath's new album 13 in New York City a couple of weeks ago.

Sharon moved out after Ozzy fell off the wagon at some point in the last year and a half. Heavy rock's Prince of Darkness confessed on Facebook in April that he had relapsed into drug and alcohol abuse.
Sharon lived in a Los Angeles-area hotel while her husband got clean and sober again.
She recently told USA Today, "He's doing incredibly well. He is. 80-plus days clean and sober . . . he has (gone from) hating himself, from a place of despair, to being a responsible husband and father again and it's amazing to see."
13, the first Sabbath album in 35 years to feature Ozzy on vocals, is expected to debut at Number One on the Billboard album chart on Wednesday (June 19th), which would give Sabbath the first U.S. chart-topper of the band's career.

ALICE IN CHAINS PINBALL GAME NOW AVAILABLE FOR iPHONE AND iPAD

Alice In Chains has released a new app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch called Alice In Chains Pinball Rocks, a virtual pinball game played to a soundtrack that offers a collection of the grunge group's most popular tracks. According to Audio Ink Radio, the game also features original voiceovers from band members Jerry Cantrell, William DuVall, Sean Kinney and Mike Inez, plus hi-def graphics and a bonus game that unlocks the group's single "Hollow."

A number of items from the covers of Alice In Chains releases like Jar Of Flies, Music Bank and the band's self-titled 1995 also appear in the game.
The app is available for $2.99 via iTunes.
Alice In Chains' new album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, debuted at Number Two on the Billboard album chart earlier this month, selling 61,000 copies in its first week of release. The disc was the band's fifth Top 10 debut.
Alice In Chains will co-headline the fourth annual Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival with Jane's Addiction this summer, kicking off on August 9th in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

LOCK OF MICK JAGGER'S MID-60's HAIR BEING AUCTIONED FOR CHARITY

A lock of Mick Jagger's hair from the 1960's is set for the auction block to benefit charity, according to ABC News. According to the Bonhams auction house website, the hair was saved by the grandmother of early-'60s Jagger girlfriend -- and the hair's current owner -- Chrissie Shrimpton, who's the kid sister of iconic "Swinging London" model Jean Shrimpton. The hair found its way into the Shrimpton family's possession, "when Mick and Chrissie were staying at her parents' farm. Apparently, on her grandmother's death, the hair passed to Chrissie's aunt and when she died, the hair was returned to Chrissie by a cousin taking care of personal effects."

The hair is expected to fetch as much as $3,100 and proceeds from its sale on July 3rd will go to Changing Faces, "a U.K.-based charity that supports people with disfigurements to the face, hands or body."

Although today the Stones' long hair, early fashion sense and aesthetic has come to be considered among the highlights of the "Swinging London" era, Keith Richards told us that it took the world a while to catch on -- especially in the American South: "That was in the Carolinas -- I'm not sure if it's North or South -- but somebody drove by the motel; a little old lady, or a couple and reported topless women cavorting around (laughs) the swimming pool, which was us, of course. But they'd never seen hair like that before. They saw it from like a quarter of a mile away from the highway. So two black and whites come screeching up to the swimming pool: 'OK where are those chicks without their bras on?!' 'Oh, you mean me, officer?'"

Out now is the critically acclaimed Rolling Stones' documentary, Crossfire Hurricane. The film includes substantial amounts of previously unreleased footage both on and off the stage, and was directed by noted filmmaker Brett Morgen, best known for his groundbreaking 2002 doc on movie mogul Robert Evans, The Kid Stays In The Picture.
Crossfire Hurricane premiered last year on HBO and features never before seen footage of the band spanning their 50-year career. The doc includes newly conducted interviews with past and present band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ron Wood, Bill Wyman, and Mick Taylor. Late co-founder Brian Jones is represented through archival interviews.
Bonus features on the disc include previously unreleased concert footage -- Live In Germany '65, the Stones' performances from the 1964 and 1965 NME Poll Winners concert in London, a new interview with director Brett Morgen, footage from the Stones' early-1964 appearance on British program The Arthur Haynes Show, along with the Crossfire Hurricane theatrical trailer.

BON JOVI'S CLEVELAND STADIUM GIG CANCELED

Bon Jovi's Cleveland fans are bumming big time with the sudden announcement that next month's show is now canceled. The band posted a statement on its official website (BonJovi.com) saying: "The July 14th Cleveland Browns "Fan Kickoff Concert" at FirstEnergy Stadium, featuring Bon Jovi and opening act Michael Stanley, has been canceled. For refund information, ticket holders should return to their original point of purchase."

The Associated Press reported that the show, which was slated to kick off the football team's 2013 season, was actually canceled by the Cleveland Browns, who have given no official word on why the show has been scrapped. AP posted that in May, Browns CEO Joe Banner went on record stating that he hoped the Bon Jovi stadium show would "attract bigger-named acts and events in the future."

Jon Bon Jovi, who was an original owner Philadelphia Arena Football team The Philadelphia Soul, told us Arena Football is the next best thing to owning a National Football League team: "I'm intrigued by it. Yeah, I love football. I absolutely love the game -- it's the only sport I care about. Y'know, if you offered me the Yankees or the Mets or the Knicks, I would say, 'That's nice,' but I love football."

Jon Bon Jovi Says Football Is His Game

KILLERS FRONTMAN PLANS SECOND SOLO OUTING

Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has revealed that he plans to record another solo album, his second, once the band has finished the touring cycle for its latest album, Battle Born. Flowers, who issued his solo debut Flamingo in 2010, told NME that he is already planning a new disc, saying, "I'm definitely gonna do another solo record at some point. Flamingo wasn't just me dipping my toes in the water. I really loved it. It was successful, and that helps, but I love those songs and I miss singing them."

Not only is Flowers working on his own music, but the Killers have new material in the works as well. Drummer Ronnie Vannucci told NME that the band has been recording new music, including a song with Anthony Gonzalez of M83.
Vannucci explained that the recordings are "not just demos. Real recordings. I mean, you never know what it's gonna be, I guess. But we have our engineer, and we're working with a couple of surprise guests, in the producer capacity. Some of it is sounding really cool."
Battle Born, the Killers' fourth studio effort, arrived last September.
The Las Vegas quartet headline Wembley Stadium this Saturday (June 22nd) after headlining the Isle Of Wight festival last weekend.
The band will be one of the headliners at Chicago's Lollapalooza festival in early August, which will also kick off a month of North American dates.

P.O.D. SINGER GUESTS ON NEW FLYLEAF TRACK

P.O.D. frontman Sonny Sandoval makes a guest appearance on "Something Better," a new single from the band Flyleaf that appears on its new EP, Who We Are. The EP is due out July 9th and consists mostly of live tracks showcasing new Flyleaf singer Kristen May in addition to the single. "Something Better" is one of the first songs written since May replaced original Flyleaf vocalist Lacey Sturm last year.

Flyleaf said in a statement, "Having Sonny from P.O.D. on this track was really special. We've been fans of theirs for years, and it was an honor to do this collaboration. We think y'all will love it!"
Both bands will hit the road together for a co-headlining tour next month, and not to be outdone, P.O.D. has issued a music video for the song "Beautiful," the latest single from P.O.D.'s 2012 album Murdered Love.
Sonny Sandoval told us what the song "Beautiful" touched upon: "I think it kind of brings up a few different scenarios of a boy or a girl's life, whether it's drug abuse or even physical abuse to thoughts of suicide to loneliness...it's just a reminder, no matter what these kids are going through, that, you know, the lyric says that you're still beautiful to me, you know. There's someone out there that loves you and thinks more of you than you do of yourself, and so that gives us hope."
Flyleaf is still supporting its third studio effort, New Horizons, which came out last fall and was Sturm's last recorded work with the group.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH POSTS FIRST WEBISODE ON MAKING OF NEW ALBUM

Five Finger Death Punch is posting a series of webisodes online focusing on the making of each individual track on the band's new double album, The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell. The clips will be posted at Loudwire and Noisecreep and will begin with songs from Volume 1 of the set, which is due out July 30th. In the first one, singer Ivan Moody and drummer Jeremy Spencer discuss doing a double album, with Moody saying, "We realized we were sitting on 24 or 25 tracks of music . . . We can shelve a lot of it and put it off for the next album or this album or this that and the other, or we can just make a double album."

The pair also discuss two tracks from the disc, "Watch You Bleed" and "You."
The album's first single is called "Lift Me Up" and we asked Moody to talk about that tune, which features Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford: "'Lift Me Up' is more of a positive message. It's something that I haven't really done in a long time and it's awkward because Rob was the one that kind of brought it to my attention. Rob sat down with me and he was like, 'You know what, it's just such a positive message, you don't hear that anymore these days.' You know, there are chains that bind everybody, and I'm sure anybody can relate to this. And 'Lift Me Up''s just one of those songs where, like I said, it's more of a positive feedback on it all."
The CD also features guest appearances from In This Moment singer Maria Brink, Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera and Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta in addition to Halford.
Five Finger Death Punch will co-headline the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer alongside Rob Zombie, with the tour kicking off in San Bernardino, California on June 29th.

BLONDIE ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES

Blondie has announced 16 new North American tour dates. The band -- which features original members Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, and Clem Burke -- will kick off its U.S. dates on September 5th in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom and wind things down nearly a month later on October 4th with a hometown gig at New York City's Roseland Ballroom. The band's special guest on the tour will be L.A. legends, X.

Vintage Vinyl News reported that ticket buyers will be eligible to download five new tracks from Blondie's upcoming studio album due out later this fall -- "Make A Way," "Drag You Around," "Can't Stop Wanting," "A Rose By Any Name," and "I Screwed Up."

Debbie Harry says that the Blondie's nearly 40-year career has turned into one long memory for her: "There's thousands of things, y'know. It's just like this great huge splatter -- a big splatter of millions and millions of little bites. Y'know all this stuff sort of files past, y'know. I don't know, we think about the time that we were playing in a club and there was a bomb scare or we got shut down by the fire department or stuff like that. Y'know, those are always very exciting rock n' roll moments."
Blondie is currently on the road in Europe and performs tonight (June 19th) on the Isle Of Man.

JEFF BECK TO JOIN BEACH BOYS CO-FOUNDERS FOR L.A. GIG

Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck are taking their current studio collaboration to the stage. Wilson announced on his website (BrianWilson.com) that Beck will join him and fellow Beach Boys co-founders Al Jardine and David Marks for their October 20th gig at L.A.'s Greek Theatre. All the musicians have been recording with Wilson for his first album for Capitol Records in four years.

Wilson said of the upcoming live team-up, saying, "Jeff is one of the most amazing guitarists I've ever worked with and his vibe is inspiring, in fact I think we should do an album together! I feel like this is a cool continuation of what we did last year with the exciting addition of Jeff Beck. We've got some new tunes we want to try out on a live crowd as well as doing some great music from our catalogues."

In addition to performing with Wilson, Jardine, and Marks; Beck and his band will be performing a separate set of their own.
Jeff Beck has worked with numerous music legends throughout his career, but unlike the other Yardbirds guitarists -- Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page -- he never found the right combination of bandmates to spur him into wider popularity. He says that he doesn't mind being thought of as a music snob for having very specific tastes: "People will tend to think that really, really, trashy, awful music is music if they're not exposed to anything else and that's bad. I come from a whole different era long before all this stuff was about so I have to tread very carefully not to look as if we're a push button brigade, which we're not at all. My band are very highly skilled players and we wouldn't trade that for the world."

The new career-spanning collection features over 60 previously unreleased songs, home demos, alternate mixes, and live recordings, and is presented in a "yearbook-inspired" hardbound book. The project was compiled and produced by the Beach Boys' archival team, producers Mark Linett and Alan Boyd, with the help of label exec Dennis Wolfe -- all three of which shared the Smile Sessions Grammy win with Brian Wilson earlier this year.
Made In California features plenty of the Beach Boys' legendary hits, but its main draw is the release of numerous previously unreleased gems -- many of which have never been bootlegged before and only rumored about existing for decades. Highlights include the previously unreleased Dennis Wilson tracks "(Wouldn't It Be Nice To) Live Again," "Mona Kani," "Barnyard Blues," and "My Love Lives On," the band's original 1963 version of "Back Home," Brian Wilson's 1974 home demo of "California Feelin'," his one-man-band 1976 rendition of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," "Sherry, She Needs Me" -- utilizing the 1965 track and 1976 vocals, 1979 outtakes featuring Carl Wilson's take on "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Goin' To The Beach." Also making their first appearance on an official release are the two unfinished Beach Boys 1995 reunion tracks with Brian Wilson -- "Soul Searchin'" and "You're Still A Mystery."
Previously unreleased live highlights include "Runaway" (1965), "Friends" and "Little Bird" (1968), "Wild Honey" -- featuring Blondie Chaplin on lead vocals (1972), "It's About Time" (1973)," "I Can Hear Music" (1975), "Wonderful" and "Vegetables" (1993), and a poignant 1995 performance of "Sail On Sailor by Carl Wilson shortly before his death.
The collection also features numerous alternate mixes, BBC performances, and acapella mixes.
